Crisis

Day: 3,904

Today is Sunday, May 20, 2012.

It is now 3,904 days since 9/11. 3,904 days since the United States was attacked by Islamic extremists master-minded by Osama bin Laden - with the active threat of more to come. In effect holding all Americans "Hostage To Terror."

The official population of America as of today is 288,775,769*.

That means that there are nearly 300 million Americans being held to hostage by the threat of terrorism.

We are all 9/11 Hostages…

On September 17th, 2001 President Bush promised us he would get Osama bin Laden "dead or alive."

But he has NOT been captured or killed. The pursuit of him when he was cornered in Tora Bora was totally screwed up. He roams free in the world. He continues to coordinate Al-Qaeda activities. And he continues to issue threats that ALL Americans should regard themselves under threat of attack from his terrorists.

George W. Bush's last public comment about the man he faithfully promised the American public would be caught "dead or alive"?

"I don't know where he is. You know I just don't spend that much time on him... I truly am not that concerned about him." [President Bush - Press Conference: March 13th 2002]

George W. Bush defied the advice of his own military leaders and withdrew the vast majority of the American troops from Afghanistan who were pursuing Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda - in order to invade Iraq - because of the imminent danger to the USA from Weapons Of Mass Destruction. (Zero discovered.) We were going to be treated as liberators according to Vice President Cheney. Since then nearly 1,100 brave Americans have lost their lives and over 7,000 have been injured or maimed. The REAL war - against those who actually attacked us on 9/11 has been gravely compromised.

And nearly 300 million Americans are still "Hostages To Terror."

In 1979-1981 - America held President Jimmy Carter directly accountable for just FIFTY TWO American hostages held by terrorists in Iran. And the media kept a tally of how many days had elapsed since the hostages were taken. And questioned his effectiveness on the "Hostage Crisis" on a daily basis.

For a total of 444 days (from November 4th 1979 to January 20th 1981) - the American media pounded Jimmy Carter and his administration. What had he done? What was he doing? When would the crisis be resolved? And each day that went by was tagged "Day 1 of the Hostage Crisis" "Day 2 of the Hostage Crisis" etc. etc. The cumulative impact of this daily scrutiny is widely considered to have had a major impact on President Carter's re-election campaign.

There are now just -2756 days left to November 2nd 2004 - when Americans can pass their verdict on George W. Bush's presidency.

If you are one of the nearly 300 million Americans who have been held as a "Hostage To Terror" for over 1,100 days - then you might think that George W. Bush should be held to a similar standard of accountability that President Jimmy Carter was held with the 52 hostages that were held for 444 days on HIS watch.

We are all 9/11 Hostages.

Has George W. Bush lived up to his solemn promise to get Bin Laden "dead or alive"?

Have George W. Bush's actions in Iraq made Americans safer - or less safe since 9/11?

Has George W. Bush been more effective in tackling HIS Hostage Crisis than Jimmy Carter was in tackling HIS Hostage Crisis?

Should George W. Bush be judged by lesser standards than Jimmy Carter?
